The Neue Helvetica was purdy, but completely unreadable in large blocks. It also made me feel like a hypocrite when complaining about too-small point sizes on other people’s sites.
The new typeface is Calisto, which degrades pretty nicely into Georgia on machines that don’t have it installed.
Now I just have to figure out how to make everything line up in a nice grid again.
I’m just installing my new WordPress blog. A few things I’ve noticed:
- It’s pretty darn slow. I’m not sure if it’s my hosting provider or if I just need to turn on caching.
- The default URL scheme is pretty lousy.
- It’s pretty hackable if you know a thing or two about PHP.
- Ctrl-A doesn’t go to the beginning of the line the way I’d like.
Fortunately, I don’t think any of these misfeatures are deal-killers. I’ll do some hacking and maybe enter a real post or two once I’ve got it looking the way I like it.
